Secure Identity Management Infrastructure (SIMI)

Project Description

Chico is actively engaged in several IdM projects that include on-going support of the current Chico home-grown IdM technical environment and processes, the Enterprise Directory project that is addressing LDAP requirements and recommending a changed technical architecture, a project to change the processes and applications used by students for initial authentication for access to services and improved student self service account management, and participation in the CSU IAM Technical Architecture Group tasked with developing a proposed technical architecture for IdM within the CSU.

LDAP Directory Upgrade

CSU Chico started providing LDAP directory services in 1998 with a standards-based LDAP directory application subsequently acquired by Sun. The current LDAP directory needs to be upgraded to meet the following objectives:

  • Provide a technical architecture that is resilient, stable, scalable, and provides a high level of performance.
  • Replace the outdated LDAP servers with new hardware/operating system that conforms to the CSU Chico standard hardware and operating system platform
  • Reduce annual support costs and improve the quality of LDAP Directory support

The project is scheduled to begin in April 2007, with conversion/migration/testing throughout the summer and fall. The new platform/directory is scheduled for cutover late fall 2007.
