Blackboard Vista Statistics Project

Blackboard Vista is a large, distributed Web application with lots of daily traffic. Monitoring the health and usage of the system is a challenge. There are no central statistics collected that allow us to measure system utilization. This project is to create a statistics-gathering and display application that will allow us to collect certain statistics and create graphs of both the current statistics and the change in those statistics over time.

Initially, the application will gather information related to user activity (e.g. concurrent users, active users, etc.). Additional metrics related to system stability and system utilization will be added later. This application will allow better management of the Blackboard Vista system, including capacity planning, system stability measurement, and system utilization.
