The User Services Help Desk can help faculty and staff who are having trouble accessing the Internet from campus or home computers. They can help troubleshoot home connection issues, though some issues may need to be referred to your Internet Service Provider. They also have information and documentation online for many Internet connection issues.

Students
Students can access the Internet while on campus at any of the open access computer labs, or in labs operated by campus departments. Students who own laptops with wireless capability can connect to the free campus wireless service. Residents of the on-campus residence halls are connected to ResNet, a high-speed wired and wireless network that provides access to the Internet. Off-campus students are encouraged to subscribe to a broadband Internet service, such as DSL or cable modem, at their home or apartment.

Networking
The User Services Help Desk can help faculty and staff with on-campus networking issues. If you need a network connection, are experiencing a network outage, or are having trouble accessing a network resource, User Services can provide help. They also can address special network needs, such as static IP's for printers and servers or special firewall exceptions.

Wireless
The Wildcat Wireless service is available, free of charge, to all CSU, Chico students, faculty, and staff. To access the Wildcat Wireless service, you will need a device that is compatible with the 802.11 (b or g) wireless standard. The vast majority of new laptops come with these devices built-in. You also must be in an area of campus that has wireless coverage.

Faculty and Staff
The User Services Help Desk can help faculty and staff with on-campus telephone issues. They can accommodate telephone installations, moves, repairs, programming changes, and general usage questions. They can also set up voice mail, reset voice mail pass codes, and move voice mail from one extension to another.

Students
CASV is the university provider of telephone services in the on-campus residence halls. CASV provides dialtone and a telephone to every room, and offers affordable long distance calling rates and plans to fit an individual student's needs. They also provide a voice mail box for each student in the residence halls so they can receive messages while they are out. CASV is located in Butte Hall room 405.
