Q. Prior to attending Chico State, did you have any writing experience or internships that related to journalism?
A. I was enrolled in AP English and was editor of the yearbook in
high school. Both of these classes really helped me learn that I enjoyed writing.
Q. Why did you choose to study at Chico State?
A. I chose to study at Chico State because I fell in love with the campus and the town. After being here for two years, I can say without hesitation that I am so glad I chose to study here!
Q. Why did you choose journalism as your major?
A. I chose journalism as my major because I've always had a passion for writing.
Q. What is your minor?
A. My minor is marketing.
Q. What misconceptions about your journalism major (that your coursework has now cleared up, of course) did you have before you entered the program?
A. So far, I've been learning the basics of PR and journalistic writing, so there hasn't really been any unexpected or surprising material covered.
Q. What do you hope to do with your degree?
A. At this point in time, I'm not exactly sure what I would like to do with my degree. I'm interested in perhaps working for a PR agency, but only time will tell!
Q. What skills do you think you need to get there?
A. I think that skills in writing, communication and computer work would all be necessary in order to be successful.
Q. What are your perceptions of the future of journalism?
A. While journalism will always be an important part of society, I
feel technology will play a significant role in how people acquire their daily news and overall knowledge of what's going on in the world.
