RECIPES

 

Here are a few recipes ideal for first time brewing projects.

 

John Dear Lawnmower Beer

5-6 lbs. light malt extract

1/2 lb. Vienna malt

1 oz. Cascade hops (boiling, 60 min.)

1 oz. Cascade hops (finishing, last 10 min.)

1 tsp. gypsum

1 tsp. sea salt

1 tsp. Irish moss

1-2 packs of dry ale or lager yeast

Prime with 3/4-1 cup corn sugar.

 

The Home Brew Shop Special

7 lbs. Scottish Tartan Red Malt Extract

1 lb. Special B malt

1/2 lb. 60 degree L Caramel malt

1 oz. Willamette hops (flavoring, 10 min.)

1 oz. Mt. Hood hops (finishing, last 10 min.)

1 tsp. sea salt

1 tsp. Irish moss

#1056 American Ale Wyeast

Prime with 3/4 cup of corn sugar.

 

Bacchus Pilsner

6 lbs. light malt extract

1/2 lb. Vienna malt

1/2 lb. Toasted malt

1 oz. Cascade hops (boiling, 60 min.)

1 1/2 oz. Saaz hops (finishing, last 10 min.)

1 tsp. gypsum

1 tsp. sea salt

1 tsp Irish moss

#2206 Bavarian Lager or #2207 Pilsner Wyeast

Prime with 3/4 cup of corn sugar.

 

Hey Porter

6 lbs. dark malt extract

2 lbs. light dry malt extract

1 lb. chocolate malt

1/2 lb. black barley

1 tsp. Irish moss

2 oz. Northern Brewer hops (boiling, 60 min.)

1/2 oz. Cascade hops (finishing, last 10 min.)

#1028 London Ale Wyeast

Prime with 3/4 cup of corn sugar.

 

Stout

6 lbs. dark malt extract

2 lbs. Amber Dry malt extract

1 lb. Munich

1 lb. 60 degree Caramel malt

1/2 lb. chocolate malt

1/2 lb. roast barley

1/4 lb. Black Patent

1 tsp. Irish moss

2 oz. Chinook hops (boiling, 60 min)

1/2 oz. Cascade hops (flavoring, 30 min.)

1/2 oz. Cascade hops (finishing, last 10 min.)

#1056 American or #1084 Irish Ale Wyeast

Prime with 3/4 cup of corn sugar.
