The
Chico way
Pacific Flight
Services is located at the Chico Municipal Airport. This is a fixed
base operator (FBO) school where you will find your basic needs
in learning how to fly. FBOs not only provide a place for students
to learn to fly, but also provide fuel, planes to rent, parking
and mechanical services for pilots.
If you are
interested in flying, Pacific Flight Services located at the Chico
Municipal airport is a great place to get started. Here you will
begin with a "discovery flight," which will introduce you to the
basic idea of flying and give you a feel for it. If you enjoy your
first flight it is time to continue.
Pacific Flight
Services will explain any details and answer any questions that
you may have. They will also explain the steps you must take in
becoming a private pilot. Here is a short run down:
- You will
need to get a Class 3 medical certificate. This can be obtained
at a local physician's office after a quick examination.
- You will
need to pass a written exam of 70 multiple choice questions.
- You will
complete a minimum of 40 hours of flight time and 20 hours of
ground instruction.
- Your final
step will be taking a "checkride." Your instructor will inform
you more on that.
The
employees at Pacific Flight Services will be happy to answer any
questions or concerns you may have before starting your training
