Pacific Islands Club Anyone who likes the hospitality or tourism industry won't even realize they are actually working for the Pacific Islands Club. This company offers employment at a five-star resort in either Guam or Saipan. There is a six-month commitment
required, but you can extend your stay if you choose. They make the travel
arrangements, provide housing at the resort and meals are free. Wages
vary depending on what kind of job you choose to do. There is a wide variety of positions. There are the usual food serving, bar tending and hotel jobs, but you can also lifeguard, be an activities coordinator or teach scuba diving. Susan Janicek was a student at Chico State, but she decided she wanted to take a break and travel. She worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor for a year in Guam. She said she just wasn't ready to leave after six months. "I was making and saving more money then I did back home and I was getting to do it in a beautiful place where the weather was always nice and everyone was happy because they were on vacation," Janicek said. "It also made me realize I wanted a career in the recreation field." She said that it is a big commitment because you are far away from your friends and family for so long, but the people she met and the lifestyle she got to lead was more than worth it. Pacific Islands Club recruits
here at Chico state and the career center has a video with more details
on employment opportunities.
