spiderThere are many therapy and self-diagnosing sites on the Internet. The site www.1-800-Therapist.com offers help in various ways.  You can find a local therapist or hear the testimony of Marina Siritis, the star of Star Trek: The Next Generation, who is one of the actors who demonstrates therapy in a positive manner.

If you are worried that you might need therapy for your phobia, but just aren't sure, you can give yourself a self-test. That will let you know, vaguely, if therapy is something you should consider.

I tried the self-test and found that the questions the self-test poses are slightly difficult to understand, due to contradicting language. But if someone is unsure if their phobias or anxieties are serious, these tests might help.  The site warns that these tests are for adults only, so if you are under 18, you should have a parent check it out first.

There are a few tests available on 1-800-Therapist.  The first one, called the Openness To Therapy Assessment (OTA),  determines if you need therapy or not.  The second one is a self-evaluation, and lets you know where you stand with your phobia, problem, or fear.

The site also offers media information, scholarship programs and their mission statement.

"We offer the opportunity to speak confidentially with a trained professional who can help you evaluate your situation and assist you in finding a therapist with special sensitivity and experience in your area of need. Our extensive network of therapists and knowledge of local resources, allows us to help you connect with the most appropriate assistance."
