Writers' Biographies Orion photographer Joslyn Marie Carroll grew up in Antioch. She will graduate in December 2000 and would like to make a living by recording history. A wise person gave her the advice that one should "love many, trust few, and always paddle your own canoe." She tries to live by it. Carroll has two dogs -- Roxy and Rusty -- and one high-mainenance cat, Bun-Jah-Luv. Laney Erokan is a weekly entertainment columnist for the Bay Area's "This Week" magazine. Originally from Lafayette, Erokan began her college career at San Luis Obispo's Cuesta College, where she spent two years. She also spent one semester at the University of London in England. When she's not snowboarding in Queensland, NZ and flirting with random boys in Tehama Hall, Ms. Kelly S. Imoto can be found somewhere on top of Old Smokey with a plate of spaghetti and meatballs laughing at the world below and singing, "she's got the whole world, in her hands..." Michigan native Tracy Irwin pursued journalism to become a better writer. Now she is graduating with her bachelor's in journalism. She wants to write fiction in the future and is going to settle in Northern California because every day is perfect here. All of her pets bite her. She has two cats; Vladimir, who is pure evil and Scooter, who is insane. Both Irwin and her fiancé, Scott, are Aquarians. She would like you to visit her Web site, the Fantasy Forge. Originally from Chico, Laura L. Johnson is a senior writer at The Orion. She graduates May 2000 with her journalism degree and a minor in health science. This summer, Johnson is traveling to Anchorage, Alaska, to visit family and to find a job in journalism. She loves romance novels and bizarre movies. Jessica B. Jones graduates in May 2001 with a journalism degree and a minor in creative writing. She was born in Sacramento but hopes to venture out of her native state and travel across the country, eventually finding a city that suits her. She loves rollerblading, weekend road trips and has a weakness for warm brie and baguettes, which goes against everything her story stands for. Libran Jennifer Moyle was born in San Diego as part of a huge generation of girls with the same name. She started her college career at George Washington University and will finish at Chico State. Moyle will graduate in the summer 2000 with a bachelor of arts in journalism and minors in psychology and speech communication. Moyle spent the last four years on the Speech and Debate Team and can't wait to see what free time feels like. Her dog, Lucy Noodle, has been waiting for a walk for two years. Alexandria Rocha is majoring in journalism and minoring in creative writing. She is planning to graduate in Spring 2001. Rocha loves to travel and is a Phish-head. Graduating in May 2000, Raissa Rocha will leave Chico State with a bachelor of arts in journalism. Born in Brazil, she will be returning to her country this summer. Rocha loves Edu Carey and both share a passion for antiques. She loves to travel, that's why she wants to be an international correspondent someday. Alex Ruiz works at The Orion as assistant Dimensions editor. Formerly of Moraga, she is a senior in the journalism department. Her life's goal is to skin 10 raccoons in under five minutes, which is a joke, by the way. Julie Schubert has only two classes left to graduate. She would love to someday be good at playing golf and is taking a golf class to improve her swing. Schubert loves Zackerie Treanor and they share a beautiful dog named Newton. Computers hate her, especially those that she used to produce Cat Bytes. A 23-year-old Scorpio from Walnut Creek, Randy Striegel has been a closet wrestling fan for nearly two years (not "closet wrestling" in the sense that he is a fan of wrestling in closets, but rather, his admiration for the sport has been undisclosed until recently). Randy will be graduating in December with a bachelor of arts in journalism and a minor in psychology. Dr. Glen Bleske is the adviser for Cat Bytes. He was recognized as the Outstanding Journalism Teacher of the Year by the California Newspaper Publishers Association in 1998. He likes red licorice and treats his students as if they were his children. Cat Bytes is maintained by Dr. Glen Bleske Cat Bytes is a production of the Chico State University Journalism Department. |
