The Brick Works has been a Chico
staple since 1993, when owner Kristen Thompson first opened
the club's doors. "The Brick" was created as a 21 and
older dance club, but has evolved into an all ages
venue that has a strong focus on bands and live music.
"My idea for this club came out of the realization
that for people under 21, there isn't really much to do here,"
said Thompson, who graduated from Chico State University in 1992.
The Brick Works serves as the main tour stop for
bands coming through Northern California. Big-name bands
are constantly performing here at reasonable prices.
"I think what sets our club apart from other venues
in town is the fact that we are the only night club that can do
all ages shows and events at a large capacity," Thompson said.
"We have the largest capacity in town at 786 and we have full
upstairs and downstairs bars for the 21 and older crowd."
Acts such as Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, NOFX,
Gold Finger, Floater, AFI and Jerry Cantrell are just a few of
the big-name bands that make this a great venue in Chico.
