More about other mental health issues

An excellent way for Web surfers to begin their journey for mental health is to use a search engine.

Yahoo can find over 1,000 mental-health Web sites and pages to choose from just by typing in mental health.  If you're curious about a specific problem, simply type in the word, click on search and off you go!

But with so many results to choose from, the process can get old and tedious fast.  It can also be a frustrating experience.

Here are some sites that might make your search a little smoother.

Internet Mental Health is a site where you can take tests, get descriptions of disorders and the current treatment.  It is a free encyclopedia of information about mental health.  It is pretty straightforward and is easy to maneuver your way through the site.  While you're there, take a test or two to discover your own mental wellness.

Mentalwellness.com  is a site that has feature stories and other resources on mental health that are updated every month.  It offers helpful support groups and recovery for all kinds of problems.  The stories are interesting and easy to read.

American Psychiatric Association is a site that has answers to commonly asked questions about psychological health.  It includes an online edition of the association's publication, Psychiatric News, and links to JAMA online and other journals.

If you're feeling the need to chat with other people about mental health, check out Yahoo's chat rooms.  There are usually people in there wanting to talk, and they might have answers to your questions.

These are just a few of the Internet's resources for mental health.  And most of these sites have links to other mental-health sites.  The Internet can be a powerful source of information if you have the time and the energy to look for it.  Happy hunting!
