      Awards: Lifetime Achievement in Journalism Education Award by the California Journalism Education Coalition; Outstanding Journalism Teacher of the Year at a Four-Year University by the California Newspaper Publishers Association,1998; Freedom Forum Teaching Fellowship; an Institute for Journalism Excellence Fellowship from the American Society of Newspaper Editors.

      More than 20 years experience teaching journalism at the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul) and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and teaching and advising the student newspaper at Normandale and Anoka-Ramsey community colleges in Minnesota.
