The Agency

TGC was established in 1990 and remains one of the oldest student-managed public relations agencies in the nation. Journalism faculty and students created TGC to serve as an advanced public relations curriculum that would better prepare students for life after graduation.

The agency essentially operates like any other professional public relations agency. Each semester a new group of interested students goes through a competitive application and interview process. A maximum of 15 students are selected to serve as managers, account executives, editors and designers for the duration of that semester.

Working in small account teams of two or three, these students do everything from managing their client’s needs to making key decisions in how the agency operates, and everything in between. They benefit from developing new skill sets, hands-on experience with paying clients and strong peer-to-peer relationships that often extend far beyond the agency.
