* Christine Hall,
Treasurer

ORDER OF
BUSINESS
As this was not a typical meeting, the
following format will be altered to accommodate and condense
(much of what was discussed is already
listed elsewhere on the site):
* The benefits
of KDP, both personal and academic, were discussed. Items
included professional contacts, workshops, scholarships, etc.
* The importance of both the new website
and mailing list were stressed. If any items or links are not
yet available but need to be, e-mail Laurie!
* Membership applications
were reviewed. There are now two separate applications: one for
national and one for local. Dues are $47 and $15 respectively.
* A sample newsletter was
displayed. As with the mailing list and
website, if anything should ever be added, let Sara know. Suggestions
for new material are essential!
* The beginnings of this year's KDP scrapbook
were made available.
* A point system has been put
into effect. This is solely to recognize those who make a substantial
contribution to the local chapter of KDP during the current school
year. It will not penalize one's membership in any way if he/she is
unable to attend meetings or events. The members with the most points
at the end of the year will receive a special prize: 2 points per
meeting; 5 points per event; 10 points for joining (new members); being
in KDP ... priceless. :)
* Papa Murphy's cards were
made available as well as the option to distribute them through
members.
* Questions were answered. Single-subject
members were encouraged to join and help find ways of recuiting
non-Liberal Studies majors as it is more difficult to do so.
