K Δ Π - Alpha Nu Chapter Meeting Minutes

October 21st, 2003

The Alpha Nu Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi met at Round Table Pizza at 6:00 PM on October 21st  for a chapter meeting. The meeting was called to order by the President. The following officers were present:

                  * Hannah Westphal, Historian                                                                         * Kathleen Merletti, Historian
                  * Sara Durfee, Newsletter

ORDER OF BUSINESS

Call to Order: 6:35 P.M.
Old Business:
* Papa Murphy's Cards are still available.
* Gina S. to contact those who signed-up as helpers for the Halloween Carnival. Be sure to dress up!
New Business:
* Adopt A Family will be this semester's focal issue (a committee has been formed).
* A canned food drive committee was formed.
* RIF (Reading is Fundamental) Week ideas were contemplated. Possibly find a children's author to spend an evening with a school. Bring both parents and children together for an evening of reading. Finalizations have not occurred - please bring more thoughts to the next meeting.
* The year-long project was discussed. Four main ideas were offered (the vote has been postponed):
          1) Serving a homeless shelter
          2) Red Cross - Measles Initiative (raise funds for African children to receive measles vaccinations - costs $1 per child)
          3) Bone marrow drive
          4) Book drive
* Gina S. to try and have a fund-raiser at The Graduate (perhaps a Kings game night).
* Hannah explained addition to the rewards system - points are also added for recruiting new members.
* Please help to invite single subject majors.
Announcements:
* Up 'Til Dawn will take place tomorrow (October 22nd) in Sylvester's Cafe from 6-9 PM.
* Initiation is next Wednesday (October 29th) in BMU 210 at 7:30 PM. Doors open at 7:00. Cake and punch will be provided. The guest speaker will be Kevin Dolan. Family and friends are welcome. Please wear professional attire.
* The next member meeting will be held on November 4th - time and location TBA. Connie Brennan to be guest speaker - discuss changes in the Liberal Studies field.
