Overview

Throughout the adapted physical activity program university students have a variety of opportunities to work with children from pre-school through high school in adapted physical education settings. These opportunities provide valuable early learning experiences for individuals seeking adapted physical education specialist credentials or masters programs with a focus on adapted physical education.

Course Description

KINE 213 Programming for Individuals with Physical and Neurological Disabilities (3.0, Spring)

(Prerequisites: kine 212 or faculty permission.)
A study of prescriptive programming for individuals with orthopedic, neurological, and sensory disabilities. Evaluation of the anatomical and physiological implications and their effect upon psychomotor functioning.

KINE 214 Programming for Individuals with Mental, Emotional, and Learning Disabilities (3.0, Fall)

(Prerequisites: kine 212 or faculty permission.)
A study of prescriptive programming for individuals with disabilities, including mental, emotional, learning, and other health impairments. Instructional methods and intervention strategies will be explored in the psychomotor domain.
