Ordinarily, a volume that is a part of an analyzed serial that the library currently has on standing order is sent directly from Acquisitions to the serials catalogers in Serials Department.
Because of the recent cancellation of many of the standing orders for analyzed serials, there will be some volumes that come through separately on approval or on a firm order that will be part of an analyzed serial that we no longer have a standing order for. It will normally not be caught by Acquisitions before it comes to copy cataloging.
The only way we will be able to recognize such a volume is by the call number used in the OCLC catalog record. (see figure 1) If there is a volume number in the 050 or 090 call number or if there is an alternate call number with a volume number in the 050, it will be necessary to check to see if it has been cataloged as an analyzed serial by checking CLSI. If it has been treated as an Analyzed Serial refer the volume to Serials Department.
