BAR CODING

Last edited: March 24, 1992

EACH CATALOGER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR BARCODING THEIR BOOKS

1. Place barcode on the page facing back cover of the book (Note: It is ok if there is printing on the other side of the page). Exceptions: When there is printed text or such illustrations as maps, place the barcode on the inside of the back cover. When the inside of the back cover also contains text or illustration, you may place the barcode there only if the inside of front cover has the same information or picture on it.

If the above exceptions do not apply then you must tip in a blank page to put the barcode on, (see mendery instructions for tipping in pages).

2. Place the corresponding barcode number on the order slip that is in the book. If both the order slip and printout are in the book, place it on the order slip. When there are multiple volumes, place all barcode numbers that correspond to volumes on one order slip or attach them on another piece of paper if there is not enough space on the slip.
