PROCESSING OF EXAMINATION GUIDES
REFERENCE MATERIAL

Any reference material that is designated "exam ref" or Examinations Guides Ref", or material that has been requested to be put in the examination guides collection should be processed in the following way.


  1. Catalog as a reference book (049 item information is the same as for a regular reference book).

  2. Add 590 note:

    HELD IN EXAMINATION GUIDES REFERENCE SECTION

  3. The call number written on the verso of the title page should say "ref" only.

  4. Make the inside label "ref" but make the spine label "exam/ref" :

NOTE: if you are cataloging an item that appears like an examination guide or seems like it should go in the guides collection, but no one has indicated that it should, place the itme on the reference decision shelf.
