Importing Bibliographic Records from OCLC to Horizon

 In OCLC:

  1. Using a 945 field, subfield "a" only, enter the full bibliographic call number and location. This is ordinarily the call number from the 090, 050, 086, 092, or 099 fields followed by a location stamp [such as (Main Collection)]
      945           PS1454 A4 B26 1998 (Main Collection)
  2. Enter the appropriate barcode information in the 949 field. This will vary according to import source and collection of the material. Be aware that when you export, the records are going to one file, so if your records are from various collections, use the appropriate item subfield codes [see Importing Multiple Collections into One File]
  3. You must add a 599 field with your initials and date entered

In Horizon Cataloging Module:

  1. Select Import from the File Menu
  2. Enter the ".dat" file you will be importing
  3. Set the Import Source to the appropriate codes
  4. Make sure the bibliographic overlay function is set to "never"
  5. Click Okay
  6. If the Import box displays any errors on import, check the "Mistrake" file in the Table Editor [Accessable from Horizon Menu Manager as "6", then "2"\
