INDEX

POSSIBLE REFERENCE BOOKS

Among the types of materials included in the Reference Collection are almanacs and yearbooks, bibliographies, dictionaries, encyclopedias, directories, and handbooks, abstracting and indexing services, telephone books, college catalogs, and in the Bibliographic Center major national bibliographies and library catalogs.

Formats may include book, looseleaf service, microform, pamphlet, and card files.

The Reference Collection includes some geographical, historical, and subject atlases. In the field of law, the Reference Collection includes California and Federal case reporters, digests, statutes, and codes.

The collection has been described as a "ready reference" collection, meaning the books it contains are more dictionary- or encyclopedia-like with short concise information, rather than an extended textual form.

Do not refer computer manuals or handbooks.
