Services Provided:
The Meriam
Library's Collections and Technical Services Unit is made up
of Acquisitions, Serials, Government Documents, Receiving,
and Collection Management. Each area serves a specific and
inter-related function with the other areas to acquire,
process, catalogue, and generally prepare the library's many
information formats for the University community's use.
Included in the functions are; the receiving, sorting and delivery
of all library mail; the ordering, receiving, cataloging and
processing of materials to be housed in the library's many collections;
claiming and follow-up on Firm, Periodical, and Government Document
resources. Also, the unit manages and keeps records on the Library
Materials Fund, including: keeping statistics on usage; preparing
invoices for payment; preparing accreditation reports; processing
license agreements for electronic resources. And, it prepares
periodical issues for binding, including: physical gathering
of material, data entry, and preparing for delivery to state
binder.

Description of Duties :
Receives and delivers mail, opens packages and matches material with packing
slips and invoices; does bibliographic pre-order searching and verification of
material already received; makes data entries on both automated library system
and spreadsheets; physical processing of library materials, books, periodicals,
serials, and electronic products, for both collection and delivery to bindery;
light clerical; other related duties as assigned.
Experience Required : No
previous work experience required; however, general office and/or
clerical experience, with some computer literacy preferred.
Student Employee IV (Supervisor)

Description of Duties :
All duties assigned Student
Employee I and II, plus supervision of workers in the
absence of staff. May assist with training of other students
and be assigned tasks that require independent work as well
as independent judgment. May be asked to assist in
prioritizing tasks and duties.
Experience Required :
Student supervisors are promoted from within
and have spent a significant amount of time working as
Student Employee I and II.
Work Hours:
Student
Employees work a minimum of 12 hours/week to a maximum of 20
hours/week. Work shifts are limited to open office hours,
between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday,
although special arrangements can be made for an earlier
