Course Requirements can be viewed through the Catalog and the Major Academic Plans.

Liberal Studies Major Academic Plans (MAPs)

MAPS are outlines of which courses to take in the individual semesters to graduate in four years. MAPS can be used for course selection strategy (what to take when) and to find out when important deadlines are, even if graduating in 4 years is not a must. There are MAPS for the following Options:

(The following forms are available in PDF format, Adobe Acrobat Reader required)

  • General MAP pre-credential (PDF)
& General Program Layout and Course Descriptions
  • Bilingual MAP (PDF)
& Bilingual Program Layout and Course Descriptions
  • Liberal Studies/Child Development Double major MAP (PDF)
& Double Major Program Layout and Course Descriptions
  • Liberal Arts Map non-teaching (PDF)
& Liberal Arts Program Layout and Course Descriptions

Areas of Concentration are your chance to specialize in the specific area that you have of interest.

Suggested Electives

The Liberal Studies major contains anywhere from 105 units in the general pre-credential option to 129 units for the liberal studies - child development double major. Regardless of your choice of option you must complete at least 120 units to graduate. Included here are recommended electives that can complete credential prerequisites, prepare you for the CSET and teaching, as well as count towards the 120 units needed to graduate.

Meet with your Advisor on a regular basis. We take appointments and have designated drop in times.
