Second Sunday -- 3:45 PM; New Ward Member Open House at the Bishop's home across the street from the Stake Ctr (the house with infamous green truck). This is a great opportunity to meet and get to know some of the ward leadership. Refreshments afterwards.
Third Sunday -- 3:45 - 4:00 PM; Home Teaching/Visiting Teaching Rendezvous. We meet in Family Home Evening groups to review and discuss our HT/VT message for the month, plan upcoming FHE group meetings, activities, etc. Come join your family group.
Fourth Sunday -- 7:00 PM; Young Adult Fireside is held at the Chico Stake Ctr on the even numbered months and at the Gridley Stake Ctr on the odd numbered months. Great speakers and refreshments so come a bring a friend!
Third Friday -- 9:00 PM - 1:00 AM; Young Single Adult Dance at the Stake Ctr. These are a lot of fun where usually we have over 100 attend from all over northern California. These dances are the place to be! We usually have about three semi-formal dances. During the Summer, we try to have two dances a month and sometimes they are held at the Church cannery in the back parking lot under the stars. See the Dance Schedule card for actual dates and dress standards. Bring your friends for a fun time. Refreshments are provided.
Last Saturday -- time (and date) varies but usually in the morning; Temple Trip to the Oakland temple for all endowed members. Sometimes the temple trip will be held on a Friday evening to help with temple sealings or other ordinances. Those that are not endowed sometimes go to spend time in the temple Visitor's Center and/or take a temple grounds tour. We carpool from the Stake Ctr and always have a great time together.
Other -- other great monthly social and community service activities are planned each month. Non-member friends are welcome to participate. Call the Hotline (895-1978) for details and information on the most current events and activities.
OTHER:
Unity Conference -- held biannually either at Chico or outdoors such as in the Lassen National Forest. Usually the conference spans a 3-day period. These conferences provide an excellent opportunity to develop and strengthen testimonies and friendships while having a great time. Many activities, workshops, speakers, and experiences are planned.
Temple
Baptism Trip -- held triannually at the Oakland Temple. We usually
have over 30 members attend each time. We hold them once each semester
and once during the summer. We carpool from the Stake Ctr. Everyone always
looks forward to our temple baptism trip.
Pioneer
Trek -- held every other year during the summer (usually even numbered
years). This is a great opportunity to go back in time to the pioneer days
and enjoy some of the challenges and experiences of the pioneers. We divide
up into 8-10 family groups and each family is assigned a handcart. We push,
pull, and tug the large handcarts through the forest guided by our Trail
Boss for about 15 miles over a 3-day period. Some of the Trek activities
include workshops, pioneer stories, fireside, "hoe down" dance, fixing
blisters, and many surprises! At testimony meeting we are given a chance
to share the feelings and experiences we had together. You don't want to
miss Trek and testimony meeting. It is important to register early and
pay your $15 fee to save you a place in a family group. Remember that Trek
is the final frontier!! This activity is talked about for many years.
Service Projects -- planned monthly. Call the ward Hotline for details and information.
Social Activities -- planned monthly. Call the ward Hotline for details and information.
