Administrative Update

Subject: Administrative Update

The members of Cabinet and I want to express our deep appreciation to faculty and staff for the time you took last spring to complete the Campus Climate Survey.  This is but one example of how much you care about this special place where we work, and your commitment to our mission of serving students. Thank you. The Climate Survey Working Group has been meeting to follow up on the survey results and you should be receiving a communication from them regarding next steps very soon.

As part of the commitment by University leadership to continue to improve the campus climate and working environment, we are pleased to provide a list of actions (attached to this email) we have taken, and are taking, to address some issues and concerns that we have been hearing. This list indicates both our serious acknowledgment of these matters and our firm resolve to address them.  And expect more actions to be taken, and more opportunities for you to provide input. We look forward to continuing to work with all members of our University community to strengthen Chico State as a place of high performance, great distinction, and high morale.

We will be in touch with additional updates throughout the year on these matters, and, as I indicated in my Inside Chico State column a few weeks ago, I will use that and other forums for similar messages.  These campus communications will be posted on a new University Leadership website (http://www.csuchico.edu/leadership) for easy access. My next Inside Chico State column will be out in about two weeks, and it discusses steps the University has taken to address equity and compensation issues for faculty and staff.
