Opportunity for Employee Growth

The Human Resources - Professional Development (PDEV) unit coordinates a comprehensive employee training program that includes a wide range of courses, with a specific focus on business processes and work skills for both staff and faculty.

Workshop Offerings

Workshop offerings are consistently redesigned based on employee needs, requests, and survey feedback. These efforts resulted in nearly 1700 attendees, a 67% increase over the previous year.

These workshops are designed to build employees’ career development portfolio and enhance the skills needed for advancement or promotion opportunities.

Instructor-Led Workshops

Your HR team, in partnership with the University Staff Development Advisory Committee, and a host of other departments, collaborated to bring you more than 100 workshop sessions last year. Campus Workshops

Employee Fee Waiver

Almost 1 in 10 CSU, Chico employees make use of CSU’s Employee Fee Waiver program. Approximately 487 fee waivers were processed throughout the year. About 28% of the fee waivers are used by employees for their own professional development. The campus fee waiver program investment for 2014-15 was nearly $290,000.

Online Professional & Personal Development

To provide greater flexibility and accessibly to professional and personal development, the CSU has contracted with SkillSoft. SkillSoft offers employees access to 600+ eLearning courses and 20,000+ ebooks. In addition, the campus provides access to lynda.com for courses in technology for both students and employees. Faculty and staff have completed more than 250 courses since the launch of Lynda in February 2014.

This administration will continue to invest and provide unwavering support for faculty and staff development. The incredible professional development sessions and opportunities offered on this campus are possible because of the hard work from the HR team, University Staff Development Advisory Committee and many other contributing departments. Their constant dedication to the growth and development of all University employees sincerely appreciated.
