About Discovery
What is it?
Discovery allows simultaneous searching across a broad range of articles, books, and other collections. It is a much more extensive search than the previous Article Quick Search box we had on the ReSEARCH Station homepage. Think of it as a Google search for information resources that are generally more academic and not available for free on the Web.
When is it useful?
- As a starting point for finding articles on a topic
- Searching topics that are interdisciplinary
- Conducting research outside your field of expertise.
Searching for Books
The default search in Discovery is for full text resources. To include books in the Library in your search results uncheck the Fast Full Text box in the left hand column and click Update. If you only want books, select Books & More (Library Catalog).
What Does Discovery Cover?
- Most of the Library's article databases including Academic Search, Business Source Premier, PsycINFO, JSTOR, Science Direct, and more
- Thousands of journals and periodicals
- The Meriam Library catalog
- Digitized collections of documents and images from many organizations
