The following databases, print resources, and Web sources will help you locate book reviews. These sources primarily cover general nonfiction, fiction, and the humanitites. Social sciences are also covered in the ProQuest databases, Book Review Index, Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature, and the Social Sciences Citation Index.

Search
Search for the author's name and/or the title keywords and select the document
type: "book review". |

JSTOR
In the Search Terms field type the author's name or title keywords and select
"author" or "title" from the drop down list.
Select Journal Disciplines: put checkmarks in relevant subject area, you can
select more than one area.
Under Refine Your Search select the Limit by Type option, Deselect "articles"
and select: "reviews" and/or "opinion pieces".
You may want to change your Printing or Download settings to "economy .pdf"
for faster printing from home. |

Lexis/Nexis Academic
Select "Guided News Search." From that Screen
select the "arts & Sport" News Category and "Book, Movie, Music, and Play Reviews" as the News Source.
Enter the author's last name in one search box, and the title of the book in another. The date reange is automatically set for six months, so seslect a longer date range for
older reviews. |

Muse
Contains recent volumes of selected journals from 1995 to the current issue.
Search for Author name or Title words and select (within) "author reviewed"
or "title reviewed" from the drop down menu. |

Proquest
Includes both general and subject oriented databases.
It is automatically set to search ProQuest Newspapers. Enter the author's last name and
the title of the book in the Basic Search box. If you don't want to search newspapers
exclusively, click Select Multiple Databases and either select All Databases or chose
between ABI/Inform (business, economics, and general), Ethnic NewsWatch, and/or GenderWatch.
