Circulation & Reserve
* Circulation Information *

Circulating Materials: Material circulated includes main collection books, government publications, curriculum materials, theses, and nonprint materials.

Borrower's Obligations:

  • Borrowers must present a valid campus ID, a library courtesy card, or a non-affiliated user card.
  • Each borrower is responsible for the care and return of materials checked out on his/her card. It is the obligation of the borrower to return materials in good condition and on time or to pay overdue fines, damages or replacement costs including a processing fee.
  • Borrowing privileges and overdue fines are not transferable.

Loan Periods:
Undergraduates, staff, courtesy & nonaffiliated 21 days
Graduates 35 days
Faculty:  
The faculty due date is April 15. Faculty will be notified of items needed by other patrons, and will be requested to return these items within 10 days or the balance of 21 days if checked out less than 10 days earlier.

Renewals:
Circulation items may be renewed as often as needed at the circulation counter, provided no one else has requested them. Items may be renewed one time online from the library's ReSEARCH Station. Overdue items cannot be renewed online. No items will be renewed by telephone, fax, surface mail or email.

Returning Items:
Items are due before the library closes on the date stamped on the due date slip attached to the item. Items checked out at circulation must be returned through the book drop at the circulation counter or through the outside book drop.

Overdue Fines:

  • Overdue fines are applied to items returned late. Overdue fines accumulate for every day the item is overdue, including days when the library is closed.
  • Overdue fines are $.25 per day per item, with a maximum fine of $20.00 per item.
  • The library sends overdue notices; however, there is no assurance that patrons will receive them. A borrower is not exempt from penalties for overdue books and unpaid fines because of failure to receive a notice from the library.
Loss of Library/University Services:
Library services will be withheld when a patron’s financial obligation to the library exceeds $4.99.
University services will be withheld when a patron’s financial obligation to the library exceeds $29.99.

Holds:
A patron may place a hold on an item currently out to another borrower.

Recalls for Reserve:
All materials are subject to recall immediately if needed for the reserve collection.

Searches:
Requests for a search may be made at the 2nd floor Media & Microform desk for items that are not checked out and cannot be found on the shelf. Patrons will be notified if the item is found.

Lost or Damaged Materials:
If an item is lost or is presumed lost, the borrower should immediately report the item lost and make arrangements to pay for the material. Charges include replacement cost, a processing fee, and any accumulated overdue fines. A refund of replacement costs can be made within 6 months for a lost item found and returned in good condition.

Lost ID Cards:
Lost or stolen ID cards must be reported immediately to Circulation & Reserve. Materials checked out on an ID card that is NOT reported lost or stolen within 24 hours will be charged to the patron's account.

Theft Detection:
The library utilizes theft detection equipment and is authorized to perform a manual inspection of any container for library materials.
