Borrower's Obligations:
Each borrower is responsible for the care and return of materials checked out on his/her card. It is the obligation of the borrower to return materials in good condition and on time or pay overdue fines, damages, or replacement costs, including a processing fee.

Borrowing privileges and fines are not transferable.

Materials must be returned by the date due at the proper book drop. Materials left elsewhere in the Library are not legitimately returned, cannot be stamped in or discharged from the patron's record, and will accrue overdue fines until found and returned to the proper book drop.

Loan Periods:

Circulation 21 days
Nonprint 7 days
Reserve as indicated

Renewals:
Circulation items may be renewed as often as needed at the circulation counter, provided no one else has requested them. Items may be renewed one time online from the library's ReSEARCH Station. Overdue items cannot be renewed online. No items will be renewed by telephone, fax, surface mail or email.

Holds:
A patron may place a hold on a book currently out to another borrower. The library will then notify the borrower and request return of the book at his/her earliest convenience.

Overdues & Fines:
All materials are due on the date indicated on the date due slip before the library closes on that day. Materials returned late are subject to overdue fines.

Late fees are 25 cents per day per item for books 50 cents per hour per item for reserve materials. FINES ARE COMPUTED AND RECORDED FOR EACH CALENDAR DAY WHETHER THE LIBRARY IS OPEN OR CLOSED.

The Library may send overdue notices; however, there is no assurance that patrons will receive them. A borrower is not exempt from penalties because of failure to receive a notice from the Library.

Loss of Library/University Services:
Library services will be withheld when a patron's financial obligation to the library exceeds $4.99.
University services will be withheld when a patron's financial obligation to the library exceeds $29.99.

Recalls for Reserve:
All materials are subject to recall immediately if needed for the Reserve collection.

Searches:
Requests for a search may be made at the reading room desk for books that are not checked out and cannot be found on the shelf. Patrons will be notified if the book is found.

Lost or Damaged Materials:
If a book is lost or is presumed lost, the borrower should immediately report the book lost and should make arrangements to pay for the material. Charges include replacement cost of the book, a processing fee, and any accumulated fines. A refund of replacement costs can be made within 6 months for a lost book found and returned in good condition.

Lost ID Cards:
Lost or stolen ID cards must be reported immediately to the Circulation Department. Materials checked out on an ID card that is not reported lost or stolen within 24 hours will be charged to the patron's account.

Theft Detection:
The Library utilizes theft detection equipment and is authorized to perform a manual inspection of any container for library materials.
