A Nonaffiliated User (NAU) card entitles the cardholder to
check out materials from the general, reserve, and nonprint collections
for use either within or outside the library, depending upon restrictions
specific to each category of materials. Cardholders may access
the library catalog for books. The NAU card does not entitle cardholders
to interlibrary loan, use of the Student Computing Lab, an email
account, or remote access to restricted databases.
The card will be issued to applicants meeting the following criteria
and submitting the appropriate fee:
- a. Minimum age of 18.
- b. Permanent residence in the university's service region
(counties of Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas,
Shasta, Siskiyou, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Yuba).
- c. Provide a valid California driver's license or DMV identification
card indicating a permanent address within the service region.
- d. Provide Social Security number.
- Terms and Fees
The NAU card is issued for a period of one year from date of
purchase for a fee of $50.00. If a check of library records
indicates any outstanding debts due, these must be cleared before
a card is issued or renewed. The card is nonrefundable unless
the patron subsequently qualifies for borrowing privileges in
some other manner. Refunds are prorated from the time of issuance
or renewal of card to the date of refund request. The card is
nontransferable.
The cardholder's Social Security number or California driver's
license or DMV identification card may be required for identity
verification when checking out materials.
Card Holder's Responsibility
Cardholders are responsible for all materials circulated on their
card and are obligated to pay overdue fines and reimburse the
library for lost and/or damaged items, including processing fees.
Applications
Applications for Nonaffiliated User cards are available at Meriam
Library Circulation.
