Reserve provides an "electronic reserve service"
providing access to materials in support of classroom teaching.
Items submitted to reserve will default to the library's Electronic
Reserve Service: ERS. (See Guidelines
for Placing Materials on Library Electronic Reserve)
Books (whole), other texts exceeding 30 pages, and audio/visual
materials cannot be entered into the ERS. These materials will
be placed on the traditional "library reserve."
Library Reserve provides a short loan, high turnover "reserve
service" for both your own personal material and library
material. Please read the following guidelines so you will better
understand our policies and procedures. See also Copyright
Guidelines for Placing Copies of Materials on Library Reserve
1. Bring your personal and/or library materials to be placed
on reserve to the Circulation & Reserve counter on the first floor of the
Meriam Library.
2. Reference materials and Government Documents that are designated
Reference will need approval from the Head of Library Reference
or the Head of Library Special Resources to be placed on Reserve.
3. Reserve is unable to provide the following services:
photocopying, searching for and collecting requested library
books, circulating bound or unbound library periodicals.
4. To assure that your material is available in a timely manner,
bring your material in as soon as possible, preferably at least
two weeks before the beginning of the new semester.
5. Complete a reserve request form for each course. On this
form you will designate the loan period: 2 hour or 24 hour.
6. All material is processed according to the date received,
with the earliest date processed first. Due to the large influx
of material at the beginning of the semester, we normally develop
a processing backlog (up to a week) during the first four weeks
of the semester.
7. Textbooks that are needed immediately and not available
in the bookstore, should be designated "RUSH". Such
material will be processed and made available ASAP.
8. Please do not make class assignments until your material
has been processed. This information is available to you by
calling ext. 6501.
9. To remove material, please notify us by either visiting
Circulation & Reserve and completing a removal form or e-mailing (libraryreserve@csuchico.edu) your request. Per your instructions, your personal
materials will be available for pickup at the Circulation & Reserve counter
or be mailed to you within 5 working days.
Note: Reserve cannot be responsible for the replacement
cost of lost or stolen materials. We appreciate your cooperation
and look forward to serving you. If you have any questions about
Reserve, please call ext. 6501.
