Library User Policies:
Meriam Library users must adhere to:
Print Collection :
Federal documents are classified by the Superintendent of Documents
(SuDocs) classification system and California documents are classified
by the California State Library. Paper copies of Federal and California
Documents are located on the 4th floor of Meriam Library. The
collection is open stacks -- students and community members are
able to browse the material.
Microfiche and Microfilm:
The 2nd floor microform area houses government documents in microfiche
and microfilm. Use the Sudoc call number or the cal doc number
to locate microforms in these cabinets. To read the materials,
go to the microfiche or microfilm readers in the area. Printing from microforms images (except Opaque Reader microcards) is available -- one must either purchase a "Wildcat Guest Card" and add money to the card or students can use their Wildcat I.D. card. Scanning images is available free by either sending the image to an email account or saving onto a USB flash drive.
CD-ROMs/DVD-ROMs/Diskettes
These materials are now located on the 2nd floor Media & microform area. They can be checked out at the circulation desk on the 1st floor.

information on the internet. With the exception of a few databases
restricted to CSUChico, all materials are freely accessible and
may be copied.
Search for Government
Documents:
The first place to look for government information is the Meriam
Library Catalog. However, our catalog does not include all
government documents held in Meriam Library. For more detailed
search strategies see: How to search for Government Documents.
Government Printing Office/Federal
Depository Library Program:
“The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) was established
by Congress to ensure that the American public has access to
its Government's information. Since 1813, depository libraries
have safeguarded the public's right to know by collecting, organizing,
maintaining, preserving, and assisting users with information
from the Federal Government. The FDLP provides Government information
at no cost to designated depository libraries throughout the
country and territories. These depository libraries, in turn,
provide local, no-fee access to Government information in an
impartial environment with professional assistance.”
Meriam Library is one of nearly 1,250 depository libraries throughout
the United States (and its possessions) dedicated to free and
unrestricted public access to information produced by federal
agencies. We tailor the selection of federal titles to meet the
information needs of the CSU, Chico curriculum and the community
we live in.
