Boolean Operators: AND, OR, NOT

Boolean operators, also known as connectors, are words placed between search terms to narrow or expand a search.
 

The most common Boolean operators are:
  • AND 
  • OR 
  • NOT 

Some databases use different symbols or connectors (for example: +, -, &, AND NOT, etc.) for these operations. Always consult a databases HELP features to find out what symbols are used.
