Learning Objectives for Chapter Two


The ability to search effectively for information is a necessary skill in higher education and in the workplace. This chapter provides instruction on how to find and retrieve information from various sources.

At the end of this chapter, you should be able to: 

  • select an appropriate information resource and access tool for your research needs 
  • construct and implement effective search strategies including the use of search features such as boolean logic, truncation, and phrase searching
  • interpret and manage search results
