Relevance: is the information relevant?

You intuitively recognize that not all information is appropriate for a particular assignment or information need and that you need to evaluate the usefulness of every information source. Consider the following questions:

  • Is the format or medium of the information useful for your assignment?
  • Is the information a primary or secondary source?
  • Is the information comprehensive enough for your needs?
  • Does the information express a particular point of view?
  • Is the information directed toward  a general or a specialized audience?
