Asia and Oceania

Asian Studies Virtual Library (Australian National University)
All Asian topics are covered here including politics. You can select regions, countries, or a specific source for more information.

Africa

Africa South of the Sahara (Stanford University)
Much like the Asian Studies Virtual Library, but it specializes in African web sites. Many subjects and many countries and regions. For political issues, select "topics" then "politics/government."

African Governments on the WWW
Links to official sites for each country and sites that provide information specific to the country (like Amnesty International reports).

African Studies WWW (University of Pennsylvania)
Resources here cover all African countries. Because it supports a broad African Studies program (at Penn.), links will points to a broad slate of African information including history, art, education, and government.

Middle East

History in the News: Middle East History, Society, and Culture Resources (University at Albany, SUNY)
Find information about middle eastern countries by theme (politics, religion, etc.) or by specific country.

Middle East Research and Information Project
This group produces the Middle East Report on its website, which is an online publication specializing in "research and information" about the middle east.

Children

UNICEF
The group produces some of the best sources of reports about children around the world.

Democracy

Freedom House
This think tank organization rates levels of "freedom" for individual countries and issues related news reports on their website.

Human Rights

Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN)
The text of the declaration plus recommendations for additional research documents.
