Summer Calculus Boot Camp

This summer program has been going strong for several years now and continues to demonstrate the strong influence that it has on the students that take part in it. Throughout the course of this program you will learn invaluable skills that will not only prepare you for college expectations but put you ahead of your class peers by helping you develop great study habits and sharpening your problem solving skills at an early stage of your college career.  

This four-week boot camp (8AM to 3PM, Monday through Friday) will focus on problem solving, explorations, and applications of precalculus mathematics incorporating calculator skills. Topics include fractions, functions and their graphs, rational expressions, exponents and radicals, linear equations and inequalities, absolute value, polynomials, logarithms, exponentials, and trigonometry. Students will collaboratively master these topics in an environment of rigorous mathematical immersion.

The program will begin July 10th and end on August 4th. Applicants will be notified at the end of May.

ELIGIBILITY 

To be eligible for CSU-LSAMP, a student must be:

  • a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident;
  • An undergraduate with a declared major in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics, pursuing a baccalaureate degree.
  • an individual who has faced or faces social, educational, or economic barriers to careers in STEM.

REQUIREMENTS

Please pay careful attention to the requirements

  • You MUST have completed trigonometry with a passing grade.
  • You must be ready to take a pre-calculus or calculus course.
  • You ELM requirement must have been met before the program begins.
  • You must have earned High School GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Deadline to Apply is the first Friday of May. Applicants will be notified at the end of May.

*Brief letter should describe why you would like to participate in the program and how math is important to your major or career objective
