Calculus Readiness Test (CRT)

The prerequisites for first semester Calculus (Math 109 or Math 120) are High School Trigonometry and college level Precalculus (Math 119). If you have successfully completed the prerequisites, you do not need to take the CRT.

If you are a first time freshman planning on taking Calculus I (MATH 109 or 120) and have completed High School Trigonometry & Precalculus, you are required to take the CRT.

  • A score of 80 or above is considered passing and you may enroll in Math 109 or Math 120.
  • Students who score between 61 and 79 on the exam are required to take MATH 119 (pre-calculus) to better prepare for the rigors of MATH 120.  Students who score below 80 on the exam will not be permitted to take MATH 120 until they have successfully completed MATH 119 with a C- or better.  To succeed in Math 119, you need a solid background in Trigonometry (Math 118). Math 118 may be taken concurrently with Math 119.
  • A previous score of 80 or above will expire one year from the date the CRT exam was taken. Retaking the exam will normally not be allowed.
  • Non-freshmen are normally not eligible for the CRT.
