MULTICULTURAL AND GENDER STUDIES

Change the World Award

intro-to-fund-twitter-1.png

The goal of the Change the World Award is to recognize Multicultural & Gender Studies graduates who have made substantial contributions to social justice efforts while at Chico State and aid them in their transition into their chosen social justice profession. We know that changing the world is hard work, and these diversity and inclusion leaders will have demonstrated their dedication and willingness to sacrifice for important causes. However, recent graduates face additional stressors and expenditures as they relocate, shift wardrobes, and enter the job market. We would like to lighten that load a little, so that recipients of this $500 award can get right to the activism and advocacy work they are all about—and that our world needs so urgently.

Nominations for this brand new award for MCGS majors will be accepted starting December 1, 2017. Successful candidates must complete all coursework and successfully graduate by May 2018; graduates from December 2017 also are eligible.

To Apply for the Change the World Award

Applicants need a valid Gmail address (this includes student emails ending with @mail.csuchico.edu), must be a Multicultural and Gender Studies, General Option or Women's Studies major, and must be graduating between this December or May of 2018.

Brought to you in part by the kindness and generosity of donors

The award is funded through donations. The Chico State Giving Day, November 28th, 2017, raised enough funds for two 500$ awards to be presented to graduating seniors during the MCGS Senior Symposium in May. Here, we would like to thank all of the donors for this year's contributions, as they have directly funded the award. The donations will be open year-long, and any funds will roll over to next year's Change the World Awards.
