In-Office Positions

We have listed each positions and the general tasks below along with a detailed description of each position:


1) Chico State Outreach and Public Relations

120-150 hours per semester

Reporting structure:  Frontline supervision (Lead) will be MCGS student assistants and general oversight supervision will be performed by program ASC.

This position will be responsible for online presence to include updating and maintaining MCGS Social Media sites, marketing strategies, and Chico State internal liaison.

1. Social medial sites include:

  • MCGS Chico state Website
  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • Twitter

2. Press Releases – outreach to various community & media groups

3. Coordinate with the graphics intern

  • Marketing strategies
  • Develop one-year community marketing strategy
  • Fall intern will develop marketing strategy for both fall and spring and implement fall strategy
  • Spring intern will implement spring strategy and then develop strategy for the next fall

4. Acts as Internal Liaison at Chico State.  This position will conduct internal outreach to specified groups on campus:

  • Outreach to student Groups, units, organization, and departments
  • Attend meetings of, bring back information from, and present MCGS information to organizations
  • Perform informative visits to classes on campus
  • Develop relationships with leaders across campus

 


2) Community Outreach and Public Relations

120-150 hours per semester

5. Acts as external liaison for MCGS in the community.  This position will conduct community outreach to specified groups: Peace & Justice Center, Soroptimists, Mobilize, Mechoopda Indian Tribe of Chico Rancheria

  • Outreach to specific community groups and organization
  • Attend and perform presentations about MCGS to organizations in the community
  • Develop relationships with community leaders, groups, and populations

 


3) Graphic Designer

60-120 hours per semester

Reporting structure:  Frontline supervision (Lead) will be MCGS student assistants and general oversight supervision will be performed by program ASC.

This intern is responsible for creating promotional documents, coordination for document consistency across all platforms, and website management.  Close coordination with both campus and community outreach interns will be necessary.

1. Development and design of program marketing documents

  • Department branding
    • Signage
    • Letterhead
    • Templates (e.g. press release)
    • Website
  • Posters/Flyers
    • Course Offerings
    • Event Posters

2. Responsible for continuity of promotional material across all platforms

  • Poster/Flyers
  • Department Website

  • Design for Social Media sites

3. Responsible for MCGS website

  • Website Design
  • Website Maintenance and Updates 

 


4) Research and Program Development

90-150 hours per semester

Reporting structure:  Reports to Director

This position will assist the Director in conducting research of other Ethnic Studies, Multicultural Studies, Sexuality Studies, Women’s Studies and Gender Studies departments throughout the country and developing departmental level programmatic and curricular changes.

1. Research

  • Assist director with research to find best practices from proven successful programs
  • Course Sequencing (configuration of degrees)

  • Extra Curriculum Offering
    • Workshops
    • Special Speakers
    • Clubs 

2. Develop Program Strategy

  • Assist with the development of program strategic plan at department level
  • Assist with curricular development

 


5) Archivist

40-50 hours per semester

Reporting structure:  Frontline supervision (Lead) will be MCGS student assistants and general oversight supervision will be performed by program ASC.

This position will perform archiving of department documentation and meeting minute keeping.

2. Take minutes at department meetings
