The Mesa Directiva is the Board of Directors for MEChA. It is composed entirely of Chico State students who volunteer their time to make sure MEChA runs as smoothly as possible. Unlike a traditional BOD, the Mesa is not a hierarchy Each member has an equal say on the board and does their part to make MEChA the outstanding Chico State organization that it is today.

  • Conducts both general body and Mesa meetings.
  • Acts as a representative of MEChA.
  • Maintains communication with advisors, the university, and the student body.

  • Conducts meetings when Director of University Affairs is not present.
  • Serves as the Latino Graduation Chair
  • Maintains communication with the University Alumni Office, Latino Graduation, and MEChA Alumni Association.

  • Keeps minutes during the meetings
  • Maintains the MEChA Office

Financial Administrator Jaime Barajas
  • Keeps records of all MEChA's finances, including income and expenses.
  • Oversees fundraising committees
  • Works closely with any committee that will need funding from external sources (i.e. MAC, or the University).

Director of Political Affairs Tania Miranda
  • Informs MEChA of political issues that affect la Raza.
  • Liaison to National MEChA.
  • Participates in forums and workshops relating to politics.

  • Focuses on enlarging membership.
  • Prepares press releases for MEChA sponsored events.
  • Writes editorials concerning MEChA ideology.
  • Maintains the MEChA Email account.

  • Takes pictures at sponsored events.
  • Maintains photo album.
  • Keeps files of MEChA articles and current events that are of importance to the organization.

  • Provides information for interested individuals about starting a MEChA chapter at their school.
  • Maintains communication, with local Elementary, Junior High, High School, and Community Colleges to promote higher education.

  • Organizes MEChA socials, retreats and MEChA 101's.
  • Keeps track of voting rights, sign in sheets and contact lists.

  • Responsible for attending Regional and Central meetings.
  • Organizes external meetings hosted by the Chico State campus.
  • Attends Progress Political Agenda (PPA) meetings at Statewide Conferences.
