Application Process for Scholarships/Award

CURRENT STUDENTS:

HOW TO APPLY FOR 2010 SCHOLARSHIPS:

    1. Fill out the CSU, Chico scholarship application. A verification of your completion of the 2010 application must be brought with you to your audition - No Verification, No Audition
    2. Fill out the Music Scholarship application (see below for returning and new students). This must be submitted by October 21, 2009.
      • Returning students must audition on Saturday, October 24, 2009 - this is the only date for returning students (Current students: see your studio instructor or ensemble director if you have a conflict with this date).
        • New students may also audition at this time.

HINT #1: You should submit a University Scholarship regardless of your major because there are many university scholarships and your application will be reviewed for eligibility for ALL scholarships.

HINT #2: Be sure to fill out all sections of the application.

HINT #3: Remember to submit Letters of Recommendation

HINT #4: Since many of our awards and scholarships require the FAFSA, remember to fill out the FAFSA, even if you think you do not qualify

HINT #5: The scholarship deadline is earlier this year.

INCOMING & TRANSFER STUDENTS:

  1. Music Department Scholarship Applications are due each January.
  2. It is highly suggested that a CSU, Chico Scholarship Application also be completed December 1st of each year

Audition Procedure for All Scholarship Applicants

  • Applicans must file both a CSU, Chico Scholarship application and Music Department Scholarship application prior to the scheduled October scholarship auditions.
  • Auditions are limited to 10 minutes.
  • Select repertoire that demonstrates both technical and lyrical performance abilities.
  • You may provide your own accompanist, or we can provide one for you, but only if we receive your piano music two weeks before the audition date.
  • We prefer personal auditions, but if you cannot come to campus, you may send an audition tape.
