The concert consists of two monumental works, Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, a composition that opened new vistas of beauty and raw energy while sparking riots, and Beethoven’s great Romantic Era work, Piano Concerto No. 4, featuring guest artist Diane Walsh.

32 Annual Mozart Mile - NSS Fundraiser

The Mozart Mile is a favorite tradition of the Chico community. Walk, run, stroll, saunter or stride along a level course through Bidwell Park on a beautiful autumn morning. Musicians from the North State Symphony, Chico Country Day School, other local music groups, and even dancers from Chico Community Ballet entertain along the way! Proceeds benefit the Symphony and youth music. A level running, jogging or strolling course in Bidwell Park is the locale for this unique community event, as musicians from the Symphony and local youth music groups entertain you. This year there was a 5K (3.1-mile) course that is a flat loop around Lower Bidwell Park, and a 1 mile short course.

One of Mozart’s most successful masterworks, this delightful comic opera is a witty yet profound tale of love, betrayal and forgiveness set in late 18th-century Seville. After wooing Rosina away from Bartolo, Count Almaviva neglects his wife to court her maid, Susanna. Figaro, engaged to Susanna, attempts to thwart the Count’s advances and Bartolo returns to seek revenge.
