Pete Austin was born and raised in northern California and for the past 6 years is proud to call Chico his home. He is in fact one of the few in the department who is an alum. Pete attended Chico State in 1993 not sure what direction he was headed, it took one semester of communication classes for him to figure out he was going in the wrong direction. He needed to be creative and work with his hands, a friend suggested he take a look at the Theatre Arts program, it covered everything he enjoyed doing and well… the rest is history. Pete fell in love with the people and the shop at Chico State and is now fortunate enough to be able to come back and be a part of the theatre experience. When he's not at work he more than likely can be found at one of two places; each is quite different from the other. The first place you might find him would be in the mountains on a quite stretch of water drifting a fly in search of a rainbow trout. There are many creeks, rivers and lakes around this area it is truly an angler’s paradise. The other place you might find him would be out at the local speedway watching sprint cars sling clay around the quarter mile track. The smell of race fuel and the sound of 700 horse power makes the hair on his arms stand up; you can feel the grand stands shake as the cars pass by.
