Concurrent Program Admission Forms and Processes

 SPED Candidate Interview/Selection Process

1.  Completed application received
2.  2 letters of recommendation
3.  Passage of Subject Matter Competence (test or approved BA)
4.  Completion of prerequisites
5.  Structured interview with faculty and representative from
Cooperating Teacher Pool
6.  Spontaneous Writing Sample
7.  Scoring/Rating Process -- Admission Critera based on a 5 pt rubric
per category (categories include:  Interview, Writing Sample, Academic
Performance, Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills and Professional
Qualities)   Total Points = 30:  If candidate scores > 22 points
= Admit to Program;  If candidate scores 20-21 points = 2nd interview
required;  If candidate scores < 20 points = No admit, re-apply in
future.
