Element 3.2: Design, Implementation, and Evaluation of Field Experience and Clinical Practice
The design, implementation and evaluation of field experiences require ongoing collaborative practices between the University and the school districts. The program coordinators and placement directors work with district level personnel and school principals to both select the schools in which candidates are placed and to select the individuals who will best serve as cooperating teachers and supervisors. All programs within the unit adhere to the practice that field placements must:
- demonstrate collaboration between the university and the P-12 schools;
- model the proficiencies and dispositions indentified in the conceptual framework;
- integrate the course content of the program;
- provide opportunities for candidates to work with diverse learners;
- offer candidates opportunities to learn from various professionals in the field; and
- allow for the evaluation of candidates based on the approved standards of NCATEm the CCTC, and the appropriate professional organizations.
