A total of 410 women’s collegiate golfers – 65 from the D-II ranks – earned the All-American scholar distinction, meeting the most stringent selection criteria in all of college athletics. Division II student-athletes were required to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 while competing in 66 percent of their school’s regularly scheduled rounds during the season to earn NGCA All-American Scholar Golf Team honors.
Sears, a Business Accounting major, and Hooper (bottom right), a Business Finance major, were the only California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) golfers from the just-completed 2008-09 season to be included on the national All-American Scholar Golf Team. This is the second straight year that Sears has received the honor.
Sears and Hooper each averaged 82.6 strokes per round last season (second to Jen Sanders’ team-best 82.1 average) and played some of their best golf down the stretch to help Chico State advance to the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf National Championship for the first time in school history.
