CSU, Chico won awards Aug. 2 for having the outstanding fund-raising event, overall program, program advisors and fund-raising total.
CSU, Chico has held the Up ‘Til Dawn fund-raiser on campus for St. Jude Hospital since 2001. Last year the campus raised approximately $204,000, and has raised more than $880,000 for St. Jude’s over the past decade. CSU, Chico has set collegiate records for dollars raised in one year and number of letters sent out to potential donors.
“Winning these awards was an incredible tribute to the continuing efforts our students and others have put out on campus,” said Larry Bassow, one of the advisors to the program. “Chico State has set the bar very high for other schools who participate in fund-raising on behalf of these children in need.”
This year’s Up ‘Til Dawn event is Nov. 9 in Acker Gym. For more information, contact Bassow at 530-898-5396.
Although St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is located in Memphis, Tenn., doctors and hospitals throughout the world use the results of its research. The hospital, founded by entertainer Danny Thomas, is committed to treating all children, no matter what their economic situation.
