CSU, Chico Students Win Awards for Animation at CSU Media Arts Festival

Two California State University, Chico students have been named winners at the 2009 Media Arts Festival (MAF) held November 7th at CSU, Fullerton for their animated films. A total of 171 entries from the CSU campus system were received and judged by a panel of industry experts who chose 30 finalists for award competition within nine categories: Animation, Documentary, Experimental, Interactive, Music Video, Narrative, Television, Feature Screenplay, and Short Screenplay.

Students to Present Human Trafficking Petition to Mayor

Trafficking of human beings is a pressing social issue, and students at California State University, Chico have organized to educate the public about the problem. The students are members of S.T.O.P. (Stop Trafficking of Persons) and have been gathering signatures for a petition to have Chico declared a “Slavery-Free Zone.” An event to present the petition with a proclamation to Chico Mayor Ann Schwab will be held Tuesday, Dec. 8, beginning at 5 p.m. in Trinity Commons (Free Speech Area).

Two California State University, Chico students have been named winners at the 2009 Media Arts Festival (MAF) held November 7th at CSU, Fullerton for their animated films. Sears, Hooper named to Division II All-American Scholar Golf Team
